Mattias F. Josefsson was born in Gothenburg Sweden 1981. He studied architecture at Bergen School of Architecture (BAS) and ETH Zurich. His diploma thesis in 2014 from BAS where given a destinction and nominated for the Archiprix. Mattias has a degree in Photography from Edinburgh College of Art 2006. He has since 2016 been an assistant professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO).
Mattias has exhibited both as a artist and architect at Gallery Melk Oslo (2010), Gallery ROM Oslo (2017), Ogura Gallery Japan (2008), Paul H. Cocker Architecture Gallery Canada (2015) and in the Philippine Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2021). He has twice been participating in residency at NKDale (2016 and 2018), Norway and CCA Kitakyushu, Japan (2008-2009). Josefsson has assisted the Norwegian photographer Tom Sandberg (2006-2008) and the American artist Jimmy Durham (2011). His images have been published in Divisare, Dezeen, D2 and Arkitektur N.
Josefsson, has been shortlisted for the Hunter Douglas Award in Madrid 2015. He worked two years as an architect for the office EriksenSkajaa Arkitekter but runs today his own practise as an architect and photographer in Oslo. Mattias is a member of the team Dugnad Days that are working with participating processes in Bydel Bjerke. The project was exhibited at the Philippines Pavillion at the 2020 Venice Biennale that was awarded the Silver Lion.
